The 2025 contest required students to create original designs for Sean Mendelson’s Axoloris: The Musical. Students were challenged to generate futuristic, family-friendly designs using inspiration from a specific artist or art movement while incorporating innovative technology. CFISD students competed in multiple categories including Set Design, Costume Design, Hair/Makeup Design, Marketing and Group Theatrical Design.
“We are incredibly proud of our students for the imagination, dedication and professionalism they brought to this year’s UIL Theatrical Design Contest,” said Kelley Hughes, coordinator of secondary fine arts. “Their work demonstrates artistic excellence including collaboration, visual communication, problem solving and technology integration. These skills translate across a wide range of creative and technical career paths and serves as an example of how fine arts education prepares students for careers both in and outside of the arts.”
